Torridon, being located on a freshwater estuary in a sea loch at the foot of the mountains provides a great variety of habitats within a very small area. Seals and porpoises can be observed at close quarters on the loch, while eagles can occasionally be seen flying over the mountain ridges. Red deer are abundant. Most of the main bird habitats are represented with fresh water, salt water, woodland, moor and mountain.
