Situation

Inveralligin is a small village situated within the National Trust for Scotland Conservation Area of Torridon.

The name 'An t-Seann Bhuth' is Gaelic and means 'The Old Shop'.

It sits just 30 metres from Loch Torridon shore at the road end, surrounded by the majestic Torridon Mountains.

Accommodation

An t-Seann Bhuth, formerly the Old Post Office and Village Shop, was renovated in 2005/6 and now provides comfortable, homely accommodation for two people.

There is a boot drying room which also contains a washing machine / tumble dryer and freezer. The kitchen, dining area and lounge are open plan.

A spiral staircase leads up to the mezzanine bedroom which accommodates two single beds and an en-suite shower room with an electric shower, toilet and washbasin.

Kitchen The lounge area has a wood-burning stove for cooler nights, a leather settee, television, Video / DVD player, radio, books, games, magazines, and local information.

The dining area has a table and chairs.

Heating is by way of night storage heaters and is included in the rental except in the low season, when a charge will be made. Fuel for the wood burning stove is priced per basket.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, cooker, extractor hood, fridge and microwave.

Bed linen, towels, tea towels, washing powder, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and toilet rolls are all included in the rent.
There is a parking area for two cars and a small private garden for the sole use of guests.

We ask our guests to refrain from smoking inside the cottage.

Our Border Collie 'Grian' will welcome well behaved dogs by prior arrangement.

There is an abundance of wildlife, flora and fauna, which can be found from footpaths that start right from the front door.

Other activities within the area from Gairloch to the north and Lochcarron to the south include sailing, golf, mountain walking, climbing, pony-trekking, boat trips, fishing on sea and freshwater, and spectacular scenery to be explored.

There are restaurants in Torridon, Gairloch, Lochcarron, Shieldaig and the award-winning Applecross pub for wonderful sea-food.

How to Find Us

Follow the A9 from Inverness over the Kessock Bridge to Tore roundabout and take the A835. This will take you through Contin and then Garve.
Turn left on the A832 and follow the road to Achnasheen, then turn right at the roundabout and continue through to Kinlochewe. Turn left onto the A896 to Torridon.
Continue for 10 miles.
Turn right at the Information Centre and follow the signpost for Inveralligin and Diabaig. After 5 miles turn left at the signpost for Inveralligin.
Turn right at the bottom of the hill (by the phone and post boxes) and follow the road alongside the burn, turn right over the small bridge.
An t-Seann Bhuth is at the end of the road.
