Criche Cottage is located in the village of Alligin in Wester-Ross, an area
famous for its natural beauty, which lies between Gairloch and Lochcarron. Alligin
is idyllically situated on the north coast of beautiful loch Torridon. The setting
is unforgettable with spectacular panoramic views of the Torridon mountains across
the loch. From the cottage watch otters, seals, deer, birds and if you're lucky
eagles. There are beautiful coastal walks and beaches from the doorstep, whilst
for keen walkers there are Munro's aplenty in Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve.
Take a fishing trip out of Shieldaig 13 miles away and catch local cod, pollack,
plaice and mackerel in the loch.
The cottage is a cosy family home which sleeps up to 6. It is superbly equipped,
comfortably furnished and is heated throughout. The accommodation comprises one
large double bedroom with en-suite shower & WC and 2 twins; family bathroom with
bath; well equipped kitchen with washing machine and microwave; adjacent dining
room with oak table. The cosy living room has an open fire and large picture
windows overlooking the loch. We have a selection of books, films, jig-saws and
games available.
We are just 6 miles from Ben Damph Lodge which offers bar food, evening meals
& live music, or treat yourself to a gourmet dinner at Tigh an Eilean Hotel in
Shieldaig. Sample local free range eggs & vegetables, home grown in Alligin.
Kenneth Morrison's mobile shop will deliver fresh produce to order including meat,
fish, milk and bread as well as a wide range of general provisions. The nearest
local stores are 5 miles away in Torridon (open April-Oct). Village stores are
also located in Kinlochewe (15 miles) and Shieldaig (13 miles). 36 miles away in
Gairloch you will find restaurants, pubs, galleries, golf and superb sandy beaches.
You will feel instantly at peace in this lovely setting with stunning views &
sunsets over the loch. Paradise on earth.
